Zella "Marie" Staley's Obituary
Zella "Marie" Staley, 95, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Burnsides Community Health Center, Marshall, IL. She was born September 4, 1920 in Oil Hill, Kansas, the daughter of Vern Arthur Seaton and Bessie Lacey Seaton. On September 28, 1940 she married Samuel Henry Staley in Henderson, KY. He passed away on May 11, 2003. Survivors include her sons, Alan (Susie) Staley of Ossian, IN; Randy Staley of Martinsville, IL; Brian Staley of Chrisman, IL; daughter, Sheryl (Bob) Higginbotham of Martinsville, IL; sister, Doris Buckle of Hutsonville, IL; grandchildren, Tracey Higginbotham, Troy (Jalene) Higginbotham, Erin (Nick) Nagel, Megan (Brian) Stutzman, Brittany Staley, Carmel (Ed) Krynock and Tom (Melissa) Staley and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Donald Wayne Seaton and James Sidney (Arlene) Seaton and sister, Ruby Connelly. Mrs. Staley was a member of the Mt. Olive Congregational Church. She and her husband were owners of the Neadmore Store. Marie spent many hours in their store, plus gardening, canning and sewing many of her family's clothes. She loved to read, embroider and crochet. Several of her handiwork items were entered at the local fair, often receiving blue or best of show ribbons. Each year she endeavored to read her favorite Book, the Bible, from cover to cover. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. David Wilson and Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, south of Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N.
