Wood F Overholt's Obituary
Funeral services for Wood F. (Bill) Overholt, age 87, will be held at Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Carol Hopson Chaplain of Home Hospice will officiate. Both full Military Honors and Masonic Rites by the Travis Masonic Lodge will be accorded Mr. Overholt. He was a resident of Houston House in Sherman at the time of his death on January 23, 2010. Waldo Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Bill was born in Montrose, Illinois on April 24, 1922, to Melvin E. and Irene Wood Overholt. He married Helen Bledsoe Lewis on April 23, 1963, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Overholt was absolutely in love with his country, and this love led him to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. Following his discharge from the military, Bill was an underwriter for United American Insurance and resided in Sherman. He was a member of the American Legion, Inglewood Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, Indiana, and St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Sherman. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bill is survived by two sisters-in-law, Joyce Cyr of Denton, Texas and Zella Case of Dallas, Texas.
