William McCarty's Obituary
William (Bill) Robert McCarty, 84, widower of the late Kathryn (Kay) Mae McCarty, of Lexington, formerly of Casey, IL entered Eternal Life on June 2, 2009 at Carroll Campbell Place in Lexington, South Carolina, due to complications of Alzheimer's. Bill was born on August 19, 1924 in Greeley, Colorado to the late William Cady McCarty and Alice Marie Martin McCarty. Bill married Kay on December 27, 1948 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Bill was a 1949 graduate of the University of Nebraska and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed with Marathon Pipe Line Company from 1955 until his retirement in February of 1986. Bill's job moved the family from Nebraska to Casper, Wyoming in 1958. In March of 1967, Bill's job took the family to Casey, Illinois, where they made their home for the next 37 years. Bill was an active member of the Holy Name Society at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping with his family, as well as fly-fishing, wing shooting, square dancing, golfing and exercising. Bill was an avid gardener and always loved working in his yard and around the home. Bill will be greatly missed by his beloved children, Michael Martin McCarty and wife Margaret of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Patricia Ann Garner and husband Jack of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and Shannon Kay Hammond and husband Rick of Lexington, South Carolina; grandchildren, Erin McCarty, Megan McCarty, Katrina Garner, Alicia Garner, Julia Garner, Melissa McQuillin, Neal Rister; and great granddaughters, Alexandra and Skyler McCarty; in addition to many nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife, along with a son, Joseph William McCarty, and an infant grandson, William J. Garner. Memorial services for Mr. McCarty will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina. Funeral services with interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge Colorado with Crown Hill Mortuary assisting the family.
