William Harris' Obituary
William Nicholas "Red" Harris of Casey died on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Heartland Manor Nursing Home in Casey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with Daniel Harper officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey with Military Rites performed by the Casey VFW Post #5762 and Hazel Dell American Legion #1230. He was born June 11, 1922 in Johnson Twp, Clark County, the son of Simon Sylvester and Anna Fern Cooley Harris. He married Helen Marie Martin on April 2, 1949 in Decatur, IL; she preceded him in death on April 15, 1999. He served his country in the US Army Infantry during WWII and was a member of the Newton American Legion and the Robinson Moose Lodge. He was a retired truck driver and Foreman for Tracy Trucking Co. of Casey. Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Roe of Columbia, TN, Charlene Griffith and husband Mick of Ashmore, IL, and Rhonda Reininger of Longdale,OK, brothers Simon Harris, Jr. of Decatur and Carl Harris of Casey, sisters Irene Wells of Decatur, Eva Beasley and Anna Kuhn, both of Casey, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Wayne Harris, daughter Joyce Harris and sister Mildred Wells. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2027 S. Main St., Suite 3, Bloomington, IL 61704.
