William Bennett Cross' Obituary
William Bennett Cross, age 77, of Westfield, died on Friday, June 3, 2005 at Casey Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Markwell Chapel in Westfield with Rev. Eddie Hammond officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Markwell Chapel in Westfield and burial will be in the Richwoods Cemetery in Westfield. He was born February 15, 1928 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the son of William Lloyd and Blance Ione Bennett Cross. He married Betty J. Shoot on August 16, 1948 in Westfield; she survives. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator from Union 841 in Terre Haute after more than 40 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Betty Cross, of Westfield, sons Danny Cross and wife Lynn of Casey and William E. Cross and wife Retha of Martinsville, daughter Beverly Wright of Martinsville, sister Donna Goble of Charleston, four grandchildren Holly Wright, Cody and Jeffrey Cross and Stacy Herrington, and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Dylan Herrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Andrew Cross and granddaughter Heather Bradshaw. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2580 Federal Dr., Suite 403, Decatur, IL 62526.
