William Charles Crawley's Obituary
William Charles "Bill" Crawley of Martinsville, Illinois passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at his home. He was born November 1, 1936 in Paris, Illinois, the son of Herbert Charles Crawley and Geneva E. Spannigal Crawley. On June 21, 1954 he married Phyllis Y. Sommerville in Strasburg, Illinois. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Y. Crawley of Martinsville, IL; son Herbert Crawley of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Valla Taylor and husband Jim of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Myra Hollingsworth of Yale, IL; daughter, Maria Washburn and husband David of Martinsville, IL; thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His parents and sisters, Betty Daugherty, Helen Sublett and Ann Pigg preceded him in death. Bill was a retired Security Guard for Pinkerton and had previously worked for Velsico and farmed many years ago. He was a USMC Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Marshall American Legion. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Ohio Cemetery, Melrose Twp., rural Clark County, Illinois with Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Marshall American Legion Post 90 and the Marshall V.F.W. There will be no visitation.
