Walter Carl"Bubbles" Harris, Jr.'s Obituary
Born on the 4th of July 1958, Walter Carl Harris, Jr., known as "Bubbles," entered the world in Mattoon, IL, to parents Walter Carl Harris and Mary Margaret (Fritts) Harris. At age 66, Walter peacefully passed away at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL, at 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, including Tracie Black, with whom he spent the last years of his life.
Walter is survived by his three children: Travis Carl Harris; Trevor Earl Harris and his children, Gavin, Logan, and Carter; and Tosha Lee Lovell (Robert) and their children, Christian, Caitlynn, Camden, Corie, Claire, and a blessing on the way. He is also survived by his sisters: Jedonna Harris, Alberta Hupp, Roberta Bebout (Steve), Marolyn Kemper (Lowell), and Teresa Kemper (Len). Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Walter Harris, and six brothers and two sisters: Carl, Scott, Randy, Bob, Carolyn, Bill, Clara Mae, and Richard.
Walter was full of life and enjoyed many outdoor activities, including boating, horseback riding, and shooting, with his three children, family, and friends. He always enjoyed woodworking, even creating wooden snowman ornaments for his grandchildren in his last years. Throughout his life, he worked many trades and wore many hats. Walter was a hard worker, spending most of his lifetime as an industrial welder. He worked several years at Bolin Enterprises. He also gained skills in farming, construction, and heavy machine operation. Walter was a loving and devoted father whose dedication to his children led him to a saved and reformed life when he gave up alcoholism. He was also a wonderful grandfather who exceedingly doted on his grandchildren. Walter was a trustworthy, honest, and loyal friend to all who knew and loved him. His last selfless act was providing the gift of life through the gift of organ donation.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Our Memory Lane, 704 NE 3rd St., Casey, IL with Pastor Steve Jenkins officiating.
