Waldo Clark Connelly's Obituary
Waldo Clark Connelly, 86, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his home. He was born July 16, 1926 in Sarasota, FL, the son of Charley Clark Connelly and Alliene B. Bennett Connelly. On October 28, 1949, he married Aleatha D. McElwain in Henderson, KY. She passed away on May 14, 1997. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra S. Hammer and husband Robert of Columbia Station, OH; son, Jonathon C. Connelly of Robinson, IL; brother, Duane Bennett Connelly and wife Alta of Apopka, FL; special friend, Wendy Dexter of Humboldt, IL; grandchildren, Amy Kaufman and husband Matt of Parkland, FL; Abby Labus and husband Frank of Berea, OH; Aaron Hammer and wife Julie of Pataskala, OH; great grandchildren, Olivia and Spencer Kaufman and Alexander Clark Hammer. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Waldo was a Casey High School graduate, class of 1944; he then earned an Associate Degree in Engineering. He was a US Army WWII veteran; a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Lions Club and the Elks. Waldo was retired after working thirty-four years as a Mechanical Coordinator for Mobil Pipeline Co. in Dallas, TX. He enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. CST on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Walter "Herb" Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Honor Flight, Inc., 300 E. Auburn Ave., Springfield, OH 45505-4703.
