Virgil Benjamin Glendenning's Obituary
Virgil Benjamin Glendenning, 79, Martinsville, IL passed away at 11:44 a.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Regional Hospital , Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 19, 1931, in University Park, Iowa, the son of Friend Evern Glendenning and Amelia Baier Glendenning. Survivors include sons, Stephen Glendenning of Martinsville, IL; John Glendenning of Terre Haute, IN; daughter, Lori Hawkins of Las Vegas, NV; stepson, Michael Cameron of Muskegon, MI; sisters, Jean (Eldon) McNaught of Hampton, IL and Emily (Rev. Paul) Sebree of Marion, IN; seven loving grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his loving Yorkie, Dexter and special friend, Darlene. He was preceded by his parents, wives, Alice and Ellen; brothers, Charles, Gabriel and Evern Glendenning; sister, Patience Martin and stepson, Harry James Howe III. Virgil was a US Navy veteran, serving his country during the Korean war. He retired after thirty years of service. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with Rev. John Gartelos officiating. Military Honors will follow the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 Disabled Veteran's Association, P.O.
