Violet Marie Simpson's Obituary
Violet Marie Simpson, 92, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey. She was born February 6, 1915 in Greenup, IL to William Thomas Madlem and Flora Rosetta Glosser Madlem. On December 24, 1932 she married Clyde L. Dillier, he passed away on February 12, 1937. She then married Woodrow W. Simpson on November 6, 1942 in St. Charles, MO, he passed away on February 27, 2001. Survivors include son, Bob Dillier and wife Sally of Casey, IL; brothers, Bill Madlem of Charleston, IL, Byrd Madlem and wife Dorothy of Charleston and Jim Madlem of Casey and a sister, Emma Ryan of Windfall, IN. Violet was preceded by her parents, husbands, infant son, Larry David, sisters, Naomia Farrell, Wilma Madlem, Una Matteson, Letha Sandiford and Molly Shepard and brothers, Acel Madlem and Ralph Madlem. Violet retired from Ettelbrick Shoe Company where she had worked for over 20 years. She was an avid baseball fan, especially a Cardinals fan. As a homemaker she enjoyed many crafts. She also enjoyed watching the Truckers Softball team years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Markwell & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Blanchard officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Markwell & Son Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 700 Broadway East, Suite 9, Mattoon, IL 61938.
