Viola Mae Stutesman's Obituary
Viola Mae Stutesman, 80, of Casey, IL passed away into the arms of her Savior at 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 8, 1931, near Haddam, Kansas, the daughter of Adolph Zurfluh and Lena Ryser Zurfluh. In August 1951, she met the love of her life, Robert L. Stutesman who was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Upon his return from Korea, they were married on August 18, 1953 in Abilene, Kansas. Survivors include her husband of almost fifty-nine years, Robert L. "Bob" Stutesman of Casey, IL; sons, Ronald E. Stutesman and wife Rebecca Ring Stutesman of Casey, IL; Benny A. Stutesman and wife Cathy Hollingsworth Stutesman of Oblong, IL and Robert E. "Bobby" Stutesman and wife Melinda Durnal Stutesman of Casey, IL; brothers, Rev. Walter Zurfluh and wife Nancy of Pasadena, CA and Larry Zurfluh of Salina, KS; sister, Florence Smith of Abilene, KS; grandchildren, Andrew M. Stutesman and wife Johnna Tanner Stutesman and Alexander L. Stutesman, all of Westfield, IL; Brian A. Stutesman of Oblong, IL; Amanda Stutesman of Indianapolis, IN; Cassandra M. Stutesman of Casey, IL; Ashley N. Miller and husband Zach of Charleston, IL; Sasha Coco of Neoga, IL; Nicholas E. Stutesman, Ryan L. Stutesman, Hunter D. Stutesman, Jake T. Stutesman, Landery C. Stutesman, Alice and Destiny, all of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Madyson J. Stutesman, Andrew (Drew) Stutesman, Mashayla M. Besch, Jaxson R. Miller, Aiden L. Woolley and Emery K. Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marie Else. Viola graduated from a one room grade school, Weaver near Haddam, KS. She then graduated from Agenda Kansas High School with a class of 9 in 1949. As a child, Viola was a member of the Fruithill United Brethren Church near Haddam, KS. In 1951, she moved to Abilene, KS and became a member of the Abilene United Brethren Church. Presently, she was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church near Martinsville, IL. She was very active in church all of her life. Viola worked her entire life with her husband and her family in farming, the automobile business and the towing business until her illness. She was a member of the Areta Chapter #79, Order of the Eastern Star, Casey, IL; Badoura Temple #23, Terre Haute, IN and the Casey VFW Ladies Auxillary. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Bennett and Rev. Keith Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Island Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 305, Martinsville, IL 62442.
