Viola Blanchard's Obituary
Viola Blanchard, age 87, of Champaign, IL, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey with Pastor Terry Blanchard officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2005 at the funeral home and burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey. She was born February 24, 1918 in Diona, IL, the daughter of William Bryan and Etta Gay Kuhn Shafer. She marred Earnie B. Blanchard on October 19, 1936 in Casey; he preceded her in death on July 9, 1988. She retired from Carle Hospital after years of service as a Respiratory Therapist. She began her spirtual journey at the Moriah Chuch of God, moved to Urbana and attended the Vineyard Ministries. In her later years, she became a member of the Word of Life Church in Casey. Surviving are sons Terry Blanchard and wife Shirley of Casey, Rick Blanchard and wife Susie of Tuscola and Rodney Blanchard and wife Melanie of Atlanta, GA, daughters Karen Shockey and husband Ron of Yuca Valley, CA, and Linda Kibler-Jensen and husband Eric of Dewey, IL, sister Juanita Seaton of Martinsville, sisters-in-law Rosalyn Shafer and Virginia McFarland, both of Casey, 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Tony Mark Blanchard, brother Charles L. Shafer and two sisters, Billie Shafer and Venita Fessenbeck.
