Victor David Maxey's Obituary
Victor David Maxey, age 78, of Casey, IL passed away peacefully at 6:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Mattoon Rehab and Health Care Center, Mattoon, IL with his family by his side. He was born November 5, 1945 in Casey, IL the son of Jesse James Maxey and Flora Ethel Biggs Maxey. On September 23, 1966 he married Sandra Kay Wagle in Charleston, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sandy Maxey of Casey, IL: children, Teresa Maxey of Casey, IL; Jay Maxey (Melissa) of Greenup, IL and David Maxey (Sheila) of Ashmore, IL; grandchildren, Brandon Ridgley (Heather), Heather Birchfield (Dustin), Justin Ridgley, Jaylynn Schober (Sebastian), Annyssa Bosley (Curtis), Macey Maxey and Jarin Maxey; ten great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and in-laws; his Church family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, George Maxey, Leroy "Bud" Maxey, Lola Updegraff, Naomi Bradford and Esther Grant and great grandson, Blaine David Ray Saunderlin Ridgley.
Victor was a 1964 graduate of Martinsville High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966 - 1968 during the Vietnam War. Victor worked as a crew foreman operator for United Utilities for 28 years. He later worked for Ramsay Farms in Casey. Victor was a member of Martinsville American Legion, Willis Chapel Church of God and attended Moriah Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening and working on engines.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Hammond and Pastor Larry Howard officiating. Burial with military honors by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion will follow in Vernon Addition Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Sunday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
