Vera Jean Redman's Obituary
Vera Jean Redman, 86, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:08 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born August 11, 1922 in Hoguetown, Illinois, the daughter of Frank Isaac Johnson and Martha Jackson Johnson. On August 9, 1937 she married Lamar A. Redman in Terre Haute, Indiana. He passed away on September 10, 1993. Survivors include her son, Wayne Redman and wife Ione of Casey, IL; son, Ronald Redman of Casey, IL; daughter in law, Eileen Redman; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, son, Harry Redman; son, Larry Redman; sisters, Merle Chapman, Irene Fort, Nettle Lucky, Jackea Johnson; brothers, Keith Johnson, Robert Johnson, Francis "Hank" Johnson; Floyd Johnson and Cecil "Pete" Johnson. Vera worked most of her adult life. She was a waitress for several years in northwest Indiana before moving "back home" to operate the Davis Café and the Casey Bowl in Casey, IL. In later life, Vera cared for the elderly, which she felt was her true calling. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A graveside committal for her ashes will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Rev. Tom Marsh and Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. At her request there will be no visitation. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL 62429.
