Velma Mae Snyder Perry's Obituary
Velma Mae Snyder Perry, 89, of Casey, IL formerly of the Yale, IL area passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. She was born March 3, 1918 in Westfield, IL the daughter of Earl C. Snyder and Margaret Ann Hutchison Snyder. On August 7, 1937 she married Charles E. Perry in Charleston, IL. He passed away on May 1, 1981. Survivors include her son, Jon Charles Perry and wife Connie of Louisville, KY; sister, Mary Esther Williams of DesMoines, Iowa; grandchildren, Cheryl Brown and husband Roger of Casey, IL; Carol Collins and husband Michael of Chicago, IL; Jennifer Perry of Louisville, KY; Jon R. Perry and wife Julie of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Alyssa Brown, John Collins, James Collins, Christian Perry and Kayleigh Perry; son in law, Keith Wattleworth and wife Maggie of Yale, IL; sisters in law, Joyce Snyder of Springfield, IL; Ramona Miller of Casey, IL and Ramola Harper of Altamont, IL; and brother in law, Dick Perry of Vandalia, IL. She was preceded by her parents, husband, daughter, Janine Wattleworth; brothers, Jim Snyder, Frank Snyder, Ralph Snyder and sisters, Elizabeth Lang and Josephine Lacey. Mrs. Perry was a charter member of the Casey Central Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also served as a church trustee, secretary, treasurer and was the moderator at the time of the church closing. She then became a member of the Hazel Dell Church of God. She was member of the Farm Bureau and AARP. She worked on the family farm for many years and the Casey Shoe Factory. She attended Westfield High School, where she was a graduate of the Class of 1936. She taught at the Greenwood School in Charleston, IL. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Rick Emrich officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 -7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
