Thomas Wayne Glidewell, 75, of Hazel Dell, Illinois passed away at 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at his home. He was born February 2, 1933 in Hazel Dell, Illinois, the son of Guy Glidewell and Bertha Pearl Myers Glidewell. He married Patricia A. Shaw; she passed away on November 26, 1991. Survivors include his sons, Robert Wayne Glidewell and wife Ann of Yelm, WA; Thomas Ray Glidewell and wife Jeanie of Hobe Sound, FL; John Gregory Glidewell and wife Rhonda of Decatur, IL; Lonnie Lee Glidewell and wife Halana of Greenup, IL; brother, Carl Glidewell and wife Jeannette of Jewett, IL; brother, Hugh (John) Glidewell and wife Carley of Casey, IL; sister, Clarice Hitt and husband Everett of Greenup, IL; sister, Betty Applegate of Casey, IL, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. His parents, wife, brother, Guy Glidewell, Jr. and sister, Carolyn Hayes preceded him in death. Tom was a retired foreman and tool pusher for M&E Drilling Co. in Casey, IL. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Hazel Dell American Legion Post #1230. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Hazel Dell American Legion and Casey V.F.W. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Hazel Dell American Legion Post #1230.
