Therese J. Carlson, 74, of Casey, IL passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in Bethalto, IL. She was born on January 4, 1938 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Frank C. Lawrence and Mary Mikrut Lawrence. On September 12, 1959, she married Richard Bruce "Ric" Carlson in Chicago, IL. He passed away on March 6, 2007. Survivors include daughter, Cathy Deist and husband Rick of Glen Carbon, IL and children, Michael and Jennifer; daughter, Mary Shields and husband Joe of Fishers, IN and children, Krystin Dodd and Alex and Andrew Shields; son, Larry Carlson of Sun Prairie, WI; daughter, Carole VanSant and husband Mark of Greenwood, IN and children, Evan and Jonah VanSant; daughter, Roberta Love and husband Ed of Bethalto, IL and children, Elisabeth Knierim and Maddie Love and sister, Pat Raio of Elgin, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Therese was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Rosary Society. She was a retired registered nurse after twenty years as Director of Nursing at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey, IL. The Parish Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday evening followed by the visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 E. Jefferson St., Casey, IL with Father Michael Haag officiating. Entombment will be Friday, August 24, 2012 at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Upper Midwest Division, 55 W.
