Shirley Maurine Burnett's Obituary
Shirley Maurine Burnett, 75, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 11:51 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at her home. She was born on August 30, 1934, in Casey, Illinois, the daughter of Herschel William and Mildred Aleen Applegate Gardner. On January 1, 1954, she married Clark Burnett in Casey, Illinois. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Clark Burnett of Casey, IL; son, Dennis Clark Burnett of Casey, IL; daughter, Nancy Lynn Simonton and husband Gary of Casey, IL; sister, Sharon Hutton and husband Ted of Brookfield, WI; brother, Frederick Gardner of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Brandy Jo Nash and husband Chris, Dylan Clark Burnett, Wyatt Eugene Burnett, and Jesse Olin Burnett, John Taylor (J.T.) Simonton and wife Janine, Alan James (A.J.) Simonton; great grandson, Landon Taylor Simonton; special caregiver, Rachel Webb; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Shirley was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed being a homemaker. Shirley was employed by the Casey School District as an assistant librarian for 10 years and then as a School Bus Driver for 20 years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL, with Bro. Tom Marsh and Pastor John Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Dell North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home.
