Shawna Rose Gardner's Obituary
Shawna Rose Gardner, 39, of Casey, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 1:47 a.m. at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born on December 29, 1973 in Paris, IL. On August 5, 1995, she married her" high school sweetheart" Chris Gardner in Casey, IL. Survivors include her husband, Chris Gardner of Casey, IL; daughters, Elleigh Gabrielle and Libbie Aleen Gardner of Casey, IL; parents, Darlena and Richard Reynolds of Casey, IL; her biological father, Fred Carver of Casey, IL; grandmother, Martha Reynolds; sisters, Rebecca (Scott) Carver and Cherie Thompson; stepbrother, Wilson Reynolds; stepsister, Leslie (Matt) Phillips and several nieces and nephews. Shawna was a 1992 graduate of Casey High School. She received a softball scholarship to Lake Land College. She later completed her teaching degree from Eastern Illinois University. Shawna was a substitute teacher for Casey Westfield and Martinsville schools. She later taught at the Casey Westfield Jr. and Sr. High Schools. For Shawna, her girls and family were her life. Her softball talent passed on to her daughters and is evident in their dedication to the sport. Shawna enjoyed coaching and playing softball; she especially enjoyed attending her daughter's softball games and spending time with her coveted pups, Bo and Belle. Shawna enjoyed scrapbooking, was an avid reader and enjoyed "planning the annual family trip to Disney World." Public visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N Central Ave., Casey, IL. The funeral service and burial will be private. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Clark County Relay for Life, c/o American Cancer Society, 2509 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820.
