Sandra S. Ulrey's Obituary
Sandra S. Ulrey, age 86, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Villas of Hollybrook, Charleston, IL. She was born September 20, 1939, the daughter of Rev. George Bernell Hills and Mildred Marie Harlow Hills. On August 30, 1957, she married Gayle Ulrey in Martinsville, IL.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, Gayle Ulrey of Martinsville, IL; children, Victor Ulrey (Diana) of Martinsville, IL, Shelly Boedeker of Concord, NH, and Misty Ettelbrick (Nick) of Naperville, IL; nine grandchildren, Katlyn Arellano, Eleasha Weddle, Victoria Day, Ashley Futch, McKayne Boedeker, Mackenzie Nass, Jordan Frane, Jacob Ettelbrick and Ashley Ryan; great grandchildren, Cylus Owen, Mateo Arellano, Judah Arellano, Seth Quintero Ulrey, Sophia Weddle, Bailey Weddle, Brandon Hutson, Summer Day, Jazzy Gordon, Jaymison Pierce, Jacob Pierce, Leonidas Boedeker, William Frane, Graham Frane, Silas Ettelbrick, Henry Ettelbrick and Lindsey Ulrey; several nieces and nephews; and her church family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Kristi Jo Ulrey and Tracy Sue Frazier; brothers, Paul Fenton Hills, James Gale Hills, and Don Hills.
Sandra was a 1957 graduate of Martinsville High School. She drove the school bus for Martinsville School District for fourteen years while working alongside her husband on the farm. Sandra had previously worked as a sales representative for Rickshaw Imports of Chicago, IL for nine years. She was a faithful member of Blue Grass Church of God, Martinsville, IL. Sandra founded Santa’s Helpers of Martinsville, IL where she shared her love of children and community to bless families. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Grass Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
