Ruth Marie Sloan's Obituary
Ruth Marie Sloan, 87, of Casey, IL passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Casey, IL. She was born on March 6, 1927 in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Walter Finkbiner and Ethel Forcum Finkbiner. On December 18, 1949 she married George Sloan in Marshall, IL. He passed away on October 4, 1967. Survivors include son, Robert Sloan and wife Linda of Brentwood, TN; daughters, Jody Howe and husband Rube of Casey, IL and Patty Harvey and husband Jim of Salisbury, MO; daughter in law, Karen Sloan of Casey, IL; grandchildren, John Matthew Sloan, Kristi Howe, Barry (Kelli) Howe, Lindsay (Hethe) Crain, Kala Harvey, Travis Harvey and Madison Sloan; great grandsons, Bryson, Brody, Brenden and Brantley Howe and Wyatt Crain. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Sloan; son, John Sloan; infant son, Jerry Sloan; granddaughter, Sydney Sloan; brother, Chester Finkbiner and sister, Leslie Sathre. Ruth was a graduate of Marshall High School. She worked as a bank teller at the Bank of Casey for many years. Mrs. Sloan attended the First Baptist Church of Casey, IL. She enjoyed reading, spending time on her computer, texting, dining out with her many friends, traveling and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL 62420. Memorial donations may be made to the Casey Township Library, 307 E. Main St., Casey, IL 62420.
