Ruth J Matthews Montgomery's Obituary
Ruth J. Matthews Montgomery, 83, of Kankakee, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at her home in Kankakee, IL. She was born March 20, 1929 in Kramer, IN, the daughter of Kazemir and Theodora Jacobson Matthews. On December 26, 1948, she married Erie E. Montgomery in Attica, IN. He passed away on March 17, 2002. Survivors include her sons, Bob (Marcia) Montgomery of Marshall, IL and John Montgomery of St. Anne, IL; daughters, Katheryn (Don) Grumbine of Henry, IL and Rosemary Montgomery of Augusta, GA; brother, Paul (Bernice) Matthews of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband; daughter, Edith Montgomery and sister, Ellen McKinzie. Mrs. Montgomery was a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed her kids, grandkids and quilting. She was an avid reader and loved life. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with Rev. Jeff Loper officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Moss Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, Kankakee, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley, Kankakee Fire Protection District or the Green Moss Cemetery Fund c/o Greenwell Funeral Home, PO Box 387, Martinsville, IL 62442.
