Ruth Geneva Hitt's Obituary
Ruth Geneva "Genny" Hitt, 97, of Warrenville, Illinois formerly of Casey, Illinois passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Central Dupage Hospital, Winfield, Illinois. She was born July 20, 1910 in Casey, Illinois, the daughter of William Clement Hitt and Martha Mary "Mattie" Harris Hitt. Survivors include two nieces, Martha Suhr and her husband Terry of Warrenville, Illinois and Loretta Mary Sansone of Tampa, Florida. She also has three nephews, Gerry Hitt and his wife Pam of Plainfield, Illinois; Bill Hitt and his wife Pat of Riverside, Illinois; and Tom Hitt of Ottawa, Illinois. She was very proud to be great aunt to nineteen nieces & nephews and great-great aunt to one niece. Her parents, brother Harris Hitt and sister Geraldine Hitt preceded her in death. Genny had lived many years in Wichita, Kansas, where she retired as the Secretery for the Division Constructin Superintendent at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company on March 1, 1975, after more than 40 years of service to the company. After retirement she later moved back to Illinois to live with her niece Martha Suhr and her family where she was fondly known as "Aunt G." She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Casey, Illinois, the Alpha XI Delta Sorority and Telephone Pioneers of America. She graduated from Casey High School and the University of Illinois. Her Visitation will begin at 11 am till her Funeral Services at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois, with Rev. Dr. Penelope Barber officiating. Cremation rites will follow the service and inurnment in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey will follow at a later date.
