Ruth Jane Doran's Obituary
Ruth Jane Doran, age 94, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:43 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, IL. She was born February 6, 1930 in Akron, OH, the daughter of Fred Nicholas and Mary Louise Spears Nicholas. On November 19, 1949 she married Ben Roe Gene Doran in Akron, OH; he passed away on June 25, 1993.
Survivors include her children, Linda Lankston of Martinsville, IL, Larry Doran (Theresa) of Vonore, TN, Susan Gary of Marshall, IL, David Doran (Jean) of Martinsville, IL, and Pamela Carpenter (Bud) of Greenville, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Greg Lankston, Tim Lankston (Sarah), Brad Doran (Bethany), Deanna King (Travis), Darlene Gillett (Derrick), Alisha Bowers (Shawn), Randi Webb (Marcus), Aaron Gary (McKayla), Abram Gary, Kaitlin Gary, Kaci Gary, Miranda Doran (Brandon Follis), Gabby Steevens, Bryce Doran (Shelby), Mariah Steevens, and James Michael Carpenter (Grace); and twenty-four great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, her beloved husband of forty-three years, and brother, Donald Nicholas.
Ruth was a 1949 graduate of Akron High School, Akron, OH. She was a retired typist and secretary for Good Year Tire Company, Akron, OH. Ruth was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Terre Haute, IN. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed volunteering with the Martinsville 4-H, coaching summer league softball, and making quilts for children services.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Dave Tyler officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
