Ruth Ann Comer's Obituary
Ruth Ann Comer, 76, of Casey, IL passed away at 1:18 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born October 2, 1937 in Oblong, IL, the daughter of Ray Manning and Letha Snyder Manning. On January 14, 1955 she married Victor Finney; he passed away on June 4, 1983. She later married David A. Comer on April 4, 1987 in Casey, IL. He passed away on February 15, 2005. Survivors include her children, Douglas Finney and wife Debra, Gary Finney and Eric Finney all of Casey, IL; Steve Finney and wife Debra of Marshall, IL and Vicki Zakowski and husband Tony of Robinson, IL; stepdaughters, Marjori Comer and Laurel Cutright and husband Michael, all of Greenup, IL; brother, Robert Ray Manning and wife Marilyn of Robinson, IL; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, David Leray Finney and grandson, Mark Anthony Zakowski. Ruth was a cook for the Davis Café and the Rex Restaurant in Casey, IL for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Casey, IL. Ruth loved to raise a garden, especially bell peppers. She canned and cooked everything she would grow. Ruth also grew rows of blackberries, which she used to make her delicious blackberry cobblers. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ebbler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
