Rozella Faye "Rosie" Tharp's Obituary
Rozella "Rosie" Faye Tharp, 87, of Casey, IL formerly of the Hazel Dell and Hidalgo, IL area entered her eternal home in Heaven at 12:50 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at her home in Casey, IL. She was born June 19, 1923, in Hidalgo, IL, the only daughter of Clarence Carr and Iva Burwell Carr. Survivors include her sons, Robert L. Tharp and wife Pamela of Hesperia, CA; Thomas L. Tharp and wife Pamela of Toledo, IL and Stephyn W. Tharp of Casey, IL; brother, Jean O. Carr and wife Rosie of Hidalgo, IL; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Michael Tharp and brothers, Victor, Ernest and Robert Carr. Mrs. Tharp retired from Underwood Manufacturing in Casey, IL. She had previously worked for Ettlebrick Shoe Factory, the Red and White Grocery Store and Eaton Car Parts. She also enjoyed working as an Avon Consultant. Rosie was a member of the Hidalgo Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School. She later attended the Word of Life Church in Casey, IL. Prior to moving to Casey in the late 1970's, Rozella played the accordion for the "Hillbilly Sweethearts." While living on the farm in Hazel Dell, IL she raised chickens and began to love raising a garden every year from then on. She also loved going to rummage sales and "finding a bargain." Funeral services honoring her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Aten Cemetery, Hidalgo, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
