Rosemary Sims' Obituary
Rosemary (Hills) Wagle Sims, age 91, of Casey, IL passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born March 28, 1925 in Casey, IL the daughter of Charles Jeremiah and Lucy (Cribelar) Hills. On June 8, 1942 she married Everett L. Wagle in Rockaway Beach, MO. They were blessed with four daughters. He passed away on March 26, 1980. On June 3, 1976 she married Denver Sims in Marshall, IL; he passed away in January 4, 1996. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Dugan of Casey, IL; Sandra (Victor) Maxey of Casey, IL; Bobbi (Barry) Welch of Arcola, IL and Charlette Shnaper of TX; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; nephews, Larry (Shirley) Carter, Leon (Susie) Hills and Jimmy Holley; nieces, Joyce Madlem, Carolyn (Dean) Shute, Sherry Holley and many great nephews and nieces. Her extended family with Denver Sims include his three sons, George, John and Jack and his four daughters, Wilma, Phyllis, Moni and Donna and their families. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers, Walter and Howard Hills; two sisters, Donna Jean Holley and Winifred Carter; one great great grandson, Blaine Ridgley, six nephews, one niece, one stepson and two stepdaughters. Rosemary worked for many years in food service. At one time she was the head cook and manager of the EIU Lab School cafeteria. She was a faithful member of the Clarksville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was always active in her church. Rosemary loved family gatherings for any reason, cooking, sewing, crocheting, crafts, swimming, volunteering and music. She was very musically talented, playing the guitar and piano and was a vocalist in the gospel group Melodyairs. After retirement Rosemary returned to Casey, IL where she volunteered at the Casey Senior Center helping with the Kazoo band. She also volunteered in the Clark County ERBA office helping her daughter and worked at the Monroe Elementary School as a teacher's aide through Green Thumb. Rosemary was a member of the Marshall Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #739. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Lakins and Rev. Larry Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday night at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. by the Marshall Chapter #739.
