Ronald C Thompson's Obituary
Ronald C. Thompson, Sr. 63 of Martinsville, IL, formerly of Ottawa, IL died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2006 at St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, IL. Ron was born February 12, 1943 in Ottawa, IL to Chester R. and Stella Beatrice (Corbin) Thompson. He married Charlotte Limes on February 18, 1995. She survives. Ron is also survived by 4 children, Ron (Sheri) of Ottawa, John (Ruth) of Aurora, Scott (Carol) of Marseilles, Tiffany (Tim) Fabian of Avon, IN, a stepson, Jack Limes of Bloomington, IL; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Hazel Westerhold of Streator, IL and brother, Roger (Ginny) Thompson of Tonica, IL and beloved pet pekingnese Bubba. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Thompson and stepdaughter, Angela Limes. Ron was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Ottawa. He retired from GE Plastics, Ottawa in 2002 after 25 years of service. He is a member of American Legion Post 33 and a past member of the Ottawa River Rescue Squad. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1966. Ron's hobbies included sports, RV camping, outdoor fun and discussing politics and history, current events, and writing poetry. Ron was a very compassionate person who lived life to the fullest and was known for his strength and reliability. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A visitation will be held at the Ottawa Funeral Home on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a Eulogy Reading by Tim Fabian at 3:45 p.m. A visitation will also be held at Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL on Monday, August 28, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Art Orndorff officiating. Interment will follow at Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, IL.
