Ronald Roger Russell's Obituary
Ronald Roger "Russ" Russell, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri formerly of Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 1:25 p.m. on July 26, 2006 after an extended battle with cancer. He was born February 29,1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Harold and Flo Lowery Russell. His mother and stepfather, James L. Peterson, raised him. He married Nora Louise Yarbro in February 1999. Survivors include his wife, Louise Yarbro of Poplar Bluff, MO; his sister, Patrice P. Peterson of Mattoon, IL; his niece, Porsha P. Peterson of Mattoon, IL; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. Ron attended school in southern Illinois, Kentucky and Mattoon. At seventeen he joined the United States Navy. He was a disabled veteran and was a member of the Disabled Veterans and the American Legion. Ron traveled extensively across the continental United States and finally settled down when he married Louise. The happiest years of his life were spent with his loving and caring Louise. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. with Pastor Carl Lamoreaux, PhD officiating. Markwell Funeral Home of Casey & Westfield, IL is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Mattoon Free Methodist Church, 606 S. 17th St., Mattoon, IL 61938. The congregation's continual prayers are greatly appreciated and have meant a great deal to the family.
