Roger Eugene Malcom's Obituary
Roger Eugene Malcom, age 65, of Nashville, TN formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away at 9:21 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was born on July 11, 1960, in Terre Haute, IN, the middle of three sons of Forest D. “Frosty” Malcom and Loreda I. Carlen Malcom. He was raised in Robinson, IL until he was 10 when the family moved to Olney, IL.
Roger graduated from East Richland High School in 1978; Olney Central College, where he was valedictorian, in 1980; and Butler University with a bachelor’s in business in 1983. Following college, he remained in Indianapolis and worked for 22 years at Downey Designs International, Inc. Later, he founded Roger Malcom Photography.
Roger had many interests throughout his life. He especially enjoyed photography, going to the movies, exploring New York City, and working on his home, which was located at 405 Blue Ridge Road, just a block east of his alma mater. However, his pride, joy, and primary focus in his later years was Opie, his much-cherished longhaired Dachshund.
Survivors include his brother, David Lee Malcom of Bon Aqua, TN; nephew, David Ray Malcom of Bon Aqua, TN; aunts, LaDora Carlen and Sharon Carlen both of Casey, IL; several cousins; and lifelong friends, Douglas Berger of New York City, NY and Mary Beth Berger Long of Marion, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Malcom; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and sister-in-law, Deborah Malcom.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
