Roberta May Decker's Obituary
Roberta May Decker, age 91, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:07 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 25, 1934, the daughter of Charles Albert Kuhn and Mary M. (Malcom) Kuhn. On August 10, 1951 she married Billy Gene Decker in Marshall, IL; they celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage before his passing on May 19, 2020.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Stephen Decker (Alisha) of Martinsville, IL, Michael Collins (Charity) of Dayton, OH, Anthony Collins (Jamie) of Casey, IL and Christine Decker (Darren) of Guyton, GA; step-grandchildren, Russell Vernon (Tracy) of Casey, IL, Rick Vernon (Dawn) of Stillman Valley, IL; nine great grandchildren and son-in-law, Carl Vernon of Casey, IL; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, her Church family and many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sons, Charles “Chuck” Allen Decker and William Stephen Decker (Vickie); daughter, Deborah Sue Vernon and step-grandson, Richard Reddick.
Roberta attended Casey High School. She worked as a filing clerk for Moore Business Forms in Charleston, IL for twenty-six years. Roberta was a faithful member of the Casey First Christian Church where she served as a deacon. She enjoyed playing dominos and cards with friends and family. Over the years, she was delighted with square dancing and riding motorcycles with Gene. Friends and neighbors treasured seeing Roberta as she rode around town on her golfcart.
Memorial service honoring Roberta and Gene’s lives will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Casey First Christian Church with Pastor Adam Solorio officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 – 3 p.m. prior to the service at Casey First Christian Church, 200 SE 8th St., Casey, IL. Burial will be follow in the Jack Oak Cemetery, Union Center, IL with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
