Robert Emil Sloan's Obituary
Robert Emil Sloan, 93, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, Illinois. He was born on October 28, 1914 in Casey, Illinois, the son of John Oscar Sloan and Ruth Kelly Sloan. On November 10, 1942, he married Alice Rowena Mills in Las Vegas, Nevada. She passed away March 26, 1991. Survivors include his sister in law, Ruth Sloan of Casey, IL; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Venatta and husband Bill of Toledo, IL; Patty Harvey and husband Jim of Salisbury, MO; Jody Howe and husband Rube of Casey, IL; Karen Sloan of Casey, IL; Charles Easton of Normal, IL and Robert Sloan and wife Linda of Brentwood, TN; several great nieces and nephews; several great, great nieces and nephews; a host of friends and wonderful neighbors. His parents, wife, sisters, Mary June Easton, Fern Hiles; brother, George Sloan and nephew, John Sloan preceded him in death. Emil was a retired machinist and farmer. He was a US Army Air Corps WWII veteran. Following Word War II he lived in California until moving back to Indiana forty-eight years ago. Emil loved meeting new people, traveling and eating out at different restaurants. He maintained many close friendships from Indiana to California and had visited many countries. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, Illinois with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Donor's Choice.
