Robert L "Bob" Shiels' Obituary
Robert L. "Bob" Shiels, age 77, of Robinson, IL formerly of Casey, IL passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 14, 1939 in Clark County, IL, the son of Benjamin Harrison Shiels and Bertha Gressel Shiels. On September 29, 1957 he married Mertie Aileen Huddlestun in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Aileen Shiels of Robinson, IL; daughters, Penny S. Ward of Royal, AR; Misty D. Barthelme of Robinson, IL and Robin M. (Lloyd) Kemper of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Betty Kirkpatrick of Danville, IL; Helen Orrell of Highland and Shirley (Loyd) Athey of Casey, IL; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Pamela Lou Bright; brothers, Fred, Ivan and Gene Shiels; sisters, Mildred Archer and Marion Wright. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Casey High School. From 1960 to 1970 he ran a Jewel Tea route in Casey. He later retired from the State of Illinois Department of Law as a weigh scale inspector. Bob was a member of the Church of Christ in Robinson, IL and was a member and past President of the Casey Jaycees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, cycling and playing golf. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Mr. Ray Warfel officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave, Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to American Red Cross, 603 Eden Ave, Effingham, IL 62401or Lincolnland Hospice, 1004 Health Center Dr, Mattoon, IL 61938.
