Robert Howard "Bud" Sherwood's Obituary
Robert Howard "Bud" Sherwood, 87, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham, Illinois. He was born November 2, 1920 in Greenup, Illinois, the son of Howard F. Sherwood and Laura Pearl Gray Sherwood. On November 3, 1946 in Charleston, Illinois he married Doris V. Lamb; she passed away on July 21, 1991. Survivors include his son, Ray Sherwood and wife Carol of Shumway, Illinois; granddaughter, Meredith Sherwood of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Frank Sherwood of Martinsville, Illinois, Darrell "Dean" Sherwood and wife Mary Ann of Casey, Illinois and Keith Sherwood and wife Sandy of Casey, Illinois; and special friend, Rosa McKinney of Marshall, Illinois. His parents, wife and sisters, Rosemary Sherwood and Dora Cox, preceded him. Bud was a Staff Sargent in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the Casey VFW. He lived on the family farm most of his life in rural Casey and was a lifelong farmer. He was an owner and driver for Sherwood Trucking for thirty years, owner of an farm implement company for eight years and owner of Sherwood Forest Campground for seven years. Bud was an avid fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by Casey VFW Post #5762 and Hazel Dell American Legion Post #1230. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Casey VFW Building Fund, 300 S. Central Ave., Casey, Illinois 62420.
