Richard Lee Howe, 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at his home. He was born February 6, 1932 in Clark County, IL, the son of Henry Leland Howe and Faye Mary Moser Howe. On June 27, 1952 he married Maurine June Harris in Jasper County, IL. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Maurine Howe of Casey, IL; daughters, Nancy Mumford and husband Dennis of Casey, IL, Joni Staley of Casey, IL, and Karen Fulk and husband Gary of Greenup, IL; son, Steve Howe and wife Vicki of Yale, IL; brother, Ronald Howe of Marshall, IL; sister, Patty Earnest and husband Larry of Newton, IL; grandchildren, Dustin Howe, Brandy Nash, Audra Staley, Michelle Shobe, Amy McMechan, Damon Zucco, Jeremy Mumford, Ryan Mumford, Jason Mumford; and great grandchildren, Hannah Zucco, Micah Zucco, Jessi Shobe, Colton Shobe, Blake McMechan, Kade McMechan, Lilly McMechan, Leah McMechan, Cooper Nash, Reid Nash, Elijah Mumford, Daisy Mumford, Jack Mumford, Violet Mumford, Cole Mumford, Owen Mumford, and Kaitlyn Mumford. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Mac and Charles Howe, and son in law, Doug Staley. Richard was a retired rural mail carrier and a farmer. He was a member of the Casey White Oak Church of God and enjoyed the time he spent with his Church family. Richard was a very social person and enjoyed having breakfast in the mornings with his friends in the local restaurants. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin and feeding the fish in his pond. His family was the highlight of his life and he treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Richard was a US Army Korean war veteran. He was a member of the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion . Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Casey White Oak Church of God. Private family graveside services and burial will be held at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Casey White Oak Church of God, 3305 E. 1000th Rd., Casey, IL 62420.
