Raymond Lee Hudson's Obituary
Raymond Lee Hudson, 73, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013. He was born January 5, 1940 in Ida Grove, IA, the son of Rev. Ray McKinzie Hudson and Ethel Miriam Leidigh Hudson. On August 20, 1962, he married Mary Elizabeth Adams in Findlay, OH. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Mary Hudson of Casey, IL; sons, Brent Hudson and wife Nardy of Lawrenceville GA; Lee Hudson and wife Amy Jo of Casey, IL; Adam Hudson of Charleston, IL; daughter, Melodie Dorn and husband Jason of Speedway, IN; brother, James Hudson and wife Hazel of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Ruth Frick and husband Ivan of Willow Brook, PA; uncle, George Hudson of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Alexandra Arthur, Benjamin Hudson and Rachel and Samantha Dorn and many additional family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Hudson was a member, choir director, elder and trustee of the Moriah Church of God, rural Casey, IL. He was a former band director for the Jr. and Sr. High schools in Grand Rapids, OH. Raymond started trucking in 1972 and bought his first truck in 1974. He was an owner operator for over thirty years until his retirement. The highest point of his trucking career was with Bekins Van Lines when he moved George W. Bush to Washington DC from Texas and back during the George H. W. Bush campaign in the late 1980's. After his retirement, he branched out into other various adventures. Ray was currently involved in and learning about organic farming. He was learning to farm without chemicals and raise free range chickens. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
