PVT Aurek Shayne Rardin's Obituary
PVT Aurek Shayne Rardin, 20, of Lafayette, IN passed away at 12:37 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA. Aurek was a member of the US Army National Guard of Indiana and was completing his training exercises at Fort Benning, GA. He was born July 27, 1993 in Johnson City, TN, the son of Brent David Rardin and Kimberly Dawn Tiffin Rardin. Aurek followed his dream of becoming a soldier in order to serve and protect not only his family and friends, but all the citizens of this country. He had completed basic training earlier in April and was finishing up his last training exercise to complete advanced individual training. Aurek graduated from the Academy at Jefferson High School in Lafayette, IN in 2012. He attended Ivy Tech Community College before joining the Indiana National Guard. Aurek played soccer at Jefferson High School and enjoyed playing WoW with his friends and brothers, as well as listening to his iPod. He attended Faith Church in Lafayette and was a devoted servant of Christ since he was a young child. Survivors include his mother, Kim Tiffin Spencer and husband Dan of Lafayette, IN; father, Brent Rardin of Lafayette, IN; sister, Abrianne (Michael) Dean of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Tandrek Rardin of Lafayette, IN; twin brother, Tayeb Rardin of Lafayette, IN; brother, Keldan (Candra) Byrd of Lafayette, IN; niece, Rosalie Byrd; grandparents, Maurice and Bonnie "Maxine" Tiffin and Bill Jack Rardin, all of Casey, IL; great grandmothers, Lida Virginia Tipsword and Evia Estelene Hanners, both of Casey, IL; uncles and aunts; Bill and Lori Rardin of Lerna, IL, Kirk and Donna Rardin of Robinson, IL, Andy and Amy Rardin of Indianapolis, IN, Troy and Abby Tiffin of Hernando, MS and Andrea Tiffin and Scot Gaby of Casey, IL; cousins, Brandon, Justin, Katelyn, Ben, Nate, Jay, Lindi, Charyssa, Amanda, Taelor, Baylor, Reyna, Micheyla, Kassidy and Kaden; and stepbrothers, Paul Spencer and Salvatore Spencer of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbara Rardin and great grandparents, Cleo Tipsword, George Hanners, Ted and Elma Tiffin, and John and Ruby Rardin. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Faith Church, 5526 St. Rd. 26 E., Lafayette IN. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL with Pastor Brent Aucoin officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 am. to 1 p.m. CST prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
