Peggy Joan Black's Obituary
Peggy Joan Black, 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:20 pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born April 25, 1933 in South Bend, IN the daughter of Foster Goble and Grace Louise Knapp Goble. On June 17, 1956 she married William R. Black in Shawneetown, IL. Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Bill Black of Casey, IL; children, Debbie Black of Galax, VA; Pam Black of Casey, IL and Brad Black of Casey, IL; sisters, Betty Goble of Casey, IL; Dorothy Collier of Kansas, IL; Nona Retzer of Peoria, IL and Carolyn Anderson of Casey, IL and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Westfield High School. She had previously worked for the Casey Shoe Factory, Underwood Electric, McQuay Norris and Charles Industries. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning her fresh garden vegetables that she grew. In her spare time she could be found watching cooking shows on TV. Joan always had a house cat to take care of and keep her company. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 303 N. Hershey Rd. # D3, Bloomington, IL 61704.
