Paul Burton Washburn's Obituary
Paul Burton Washburn, 90, of Bellair, IL passed away at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home. He was born January 10, 1920 in Johnson Twp., Clark County, IL, the son of Bert Washburn and Lucy Smith Washburn. On June 28, 1943, he married Clara Marie Johnson in Paris, IL. She passed away on April 20, 2004. Survivors include daughter, Sandra Marie Kendall and husband Danny of Oblong, IL; sister, Thelma Miller and husband Bob of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Karolyn; Kristine, Kathryn and husband Nathan; Tiffany & Mindy; great grandchildren, Michaela, Draven, Raef, Tristan, Evan, twins, Knox and Nash and one expected in the spring and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by parents, wife, son, David Paul Washburn; brothers, Russell, Stanley, Earl, Charles & Kenneth Washburn and sisters, Gladys Tynan and Lillian Chapman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Chris Parr officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW & the Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Paul was a WWII Army veteran. He retired after thirty years from the Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis, IN. He and Clara moved to Bellair remodeling their retirement home. He was a avid gardener - giving away most of his produce to his neighbors and friends. Paul was well know for the many acres of watermelons he would raise each year. He was a good friend and a treasured neighbor. He was a member of the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
