Paul Fenton Hills' Obituary
Paul Fenton Hills, 76, of Martinsville, IL, passed away at Heartland Nursing Center on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 1:45 pm. He was born in Martinsville Township to Bernell G. Hills and Mildred Marie Harlow Hills on December 9, 1935. On September 20, 1954, he married Nita L. Newlin in Marshall, IL. He is survived by his wife of 57 ½ years, four daughters, Tamara (Jay) Newlin, West York, Valorie (Butch) Ruffner and Delora (Todd) Briggs, Casey, and Amber (Mike) Maus, Oblong; a special niece, Marie (Brad) White, Robinson; fourteen grandchildren, Dustin Newlin (fiancée Renee Ramirez), St. Louis, MO, Tiffani (Josh) Higginbotham, Martinsville, Taci Newlin, West York, Heath Skinner, Martinsville, Bethany (Andy) Sweitzer, Martinsville, Matthew Ruffner (fiancée Kaysi Hilbert), Martinsville, Nikki (Jon) Pogue, Ft. Dix, New Jersey, Jessi (Morgan) Biggs, Ashmore, Karri Hawker (fiancée Mike Edens), Casey, Zack, Gabe and Kaden Briggs, Casey, and Kelsey and Dawson Maus, Oblong; six great grandchildren, Makhayla and Lucas Skinner, Martinsville, Jocelyn Sweitzer, Martinsville, Eli and Ethan Pogue, Ft. Dix, New Jersey, Clayton Biggs, Ashmore; one sister, Sandra (Gayle) Ulrey and one brother, Don (Naomi) Hills, both of Martinsville; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hills, Marshall; one uncle, Darrell Harlow, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Levi Newlin (1998); one son, Stewart M Hills (2011); one brother, James G. Hills (2001); two nieces, Kristi Ulrey and Brenda Newlin; and four nephews, Bob Blunk, Clifford (Buddy) Blunk, Charles Blunk (May 2012) and Ernie Newlin. Paul graduated from Martinsville High School in May 1954. He was an avid arrowhead hunter. He spent many hours, rain or shine, along the Wabash with his son, Stewart. He loved to comb the hills and hollers hunting mushrooms. He also hunted pheasants, quails, rabbit and squirrel. He sold cars for many years for Savage Auto and Moody-Elliott Ford in Casey and self-employed with Paul Hills Auto Sales in Martinsville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with High Priest Steve Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery, rural Martinsville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL.
