World War II ended while he was in basic training, and he served in Europe, in Germany and France. He spoke with great sadness about the total devastation of life and property he saw, going from the ship by rail to his base. Upon returning to Casey after his military service, he worked for Glick & France Body Shop in Casey, as a car body repairman. He later purchased the business and then retired in 1994. From 1996 to 2011, he worked for J&K Mitchell Inc. doing anything that needed to be done. He loved being with the great staff and customers he met during this time. Paul was able to live in joy, day by day, even with 20 years of chronic heart issues. He gave all the glory to God for the many years of extended life. He will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, and love for family and others. Paul was a 65 year member of Victor Hill American Legion Post 534 of Casey, serving in many leadership roles. He was an elder and devoted worker at the Casey First Christian Church. Paul was an athlete and loved sports of all kinds. It concerned him when youth who wanted to participate in activities, could not due to financial situations.
