Opal Louisa Manning's Obituary
Opal Louisa Manning, 103, of Westfield, IL, formerly of Miami, FL and Calhoun Falls, SC passed away at 9:22 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center, Charleston, IL. She was born on December 27, 1909 in Swanwick, IL, the daughter of Albert Higgen Cole and Bertie Agnes O'Dell Cole. She married Benjamin C. Manning in Miami, FL in 1932. He passed away on May 4, 1970. Survivors include her sons, Ronald E. Manning and wife Sylvia of Mio, MI, Randall Carlton "R.C." Manning and wife Pam of Springfield, IL; nephew, Gerald T. Wetherington and wife Lee of Miami, FL; eleven grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Thelma, Audrey and Margarite and one grandson, Marcus. Mrs. Manning worked as a Commercial Loan Officer at the First National Bank of Miami, FL. Opal attended the Westfield Baptist Church, Westfield, IL. She was an organist and soloist for various churches that she attended in Florida and South Carolina. Opal was a generous Christian woman; she enjoyed helping her family and friends. She had a strong faith in the Lord. At her request, there will be no local services. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Calhoun Falls, SC with inurnment in the Latimer Cemetery, Calhoun Falls, SC during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
