Opal Maurine Malcom's Obituary
Opal Maurine Malcom, 104, of Casey, IL passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Hilltop Convalescent Center in Charleston, IL. She was born December 2, 1904 in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Larb Wilson and Mae Anderson Wilson. On March 20, 1926, she married Harry B. Malcom in Greenup, IL. He passed away in January 31, 1940. Survivors include her sons, Harold "Jack" Malcom of Charleston, IL and Forest "Frosty" Malcom" of Robinson, IL; brother, Max Wilson of Phoenix. AZ; grandchildren, Keith Malcom and wife Jarvis of Charleston, IL, Penny Allen and husband Terry of Charleston, IL, Douglas Malcom of Casey, IL, Roger Malcom of Indianapolis, IN and David Malcom of Dixon, TN; great grandchildren, David Ray Malcom, Travis Malcom, Shannon Malcom and Amanda Malcom; great great grandchildren, Conner, Casey and Cody Strode; and nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, sister, Beatrice Cutler and brothers, Dude, Dillard and Kenneth Wilson preceded her in death. Mrs. Malcom retired as the City of Casey Treasurer and Clerk. She also worked for the Ettlebrick Shoe Company in Casey before working for the City of Casey. She was a member of the Casey White Oak Church of God and the Macedonia Baptist Church in Casey, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
