Norris L "Tad" Mansholt's Obituary
Norris L."Tad" Mansholt, 77, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born June 24, 1935 in New Douglas, IL, the son of Murriel Chester Mansholt and W. Margaret Reynolds Mansholt. On November 24, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Hickox in Hoguetown, IL. She passed away on February 1, 2012. Survivors include daughter, Valerie Owen of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Jeremy Owen of Martinsville, IL and Jessie Murdock and husband Richard of Sacramento, CA; great grandson, Ricky Murdock; brother, Herbert Mansholt and wife Anne of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; sister, Patricia Massey and husband Leon of Pinellas Park, FL; sister in law, Rosemary Mitchell and husband Pete of Casey, IL and many nieces and nephews. Tad was preceded in death by his parents, Murriel Mansholt and Margaret Frye; wife, Shirley A. Mansholt and nephew, Roy Mitchell. Tad was a pipeline superintendent for Murphy Brothers Pipeline Construction, East Moline, IL. He was a US Naval Reservist; a member of Local #157 Welder's Union, Terre Haute, IN; the Operators Union, Oklahoma City, OK; the Masonic Lodge, #442, Casey, IL; the Elks Club; the Casey Country Club and a member of the Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
