Norma Elizabeth McGahan Henderson's Obituary
Norma Elizabeth McGahan Henderson, 75, of rural Casey, formerly of Mattoon, IL passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born May 16, 1936, in Mattoon, IL to Herschel Edgar and Nora Esther (Sims) McGahan. On February 24, 1957, she married Lowell Henderson, who passed away July 4, 2009. Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn (Ed) Clodfelter of Parkersburg, Illinois; Debbie (Tom) Craig of Silver Lake, Indiana; Judy (Cy) Plunkett of Oblong, Illinois and Cynthia (Harvey) Garrett of Casey, Illinois; three sons, Steven (Caulene) Henderson of Elizabeth, Colorado, Larry Henderson and Howard Henderson of Greenup, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and one brother, Herman (Joyce) McGahan of Pahrump, Nevada. Her parents, one brother, Edgar "Sonny" McGahan, two sisters, Eva Metcalf and Leah McGahan, and great granddaughter, Abigail Christman preceded her in death. Norma was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She was a member of the Hazel Dell Church of God and attended the First Baptist Church of Casey. Quilting was one of her favorite past times and her goal was almost accomplished to make a quilt for every grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
