Norma L Hammond's Obituary
Norma L. (Maxwell) Hammond, 90, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 3:14 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born March 5, 1923 in Martinsville, IL, the daughter of Thomas Maxwell and Myrtle Cline Maxwell. On February 14, 1942 she married Zeddie C. Hammond in St. Louis, MO. Survivors include her husband of 71 1/2 years, Zeddie C. Hammond of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Donna Craig of Marshall, IL; son, Maxwell "Max" Hammond and wife Eileen of Martinsville, IL; son, John T. Hammond of Marshall, IL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dwight C. Maxwell and infant sister. As a young woman, Norma was baptized and became a member of the Martinsville Bible Church, where at age 60 she played baseball with the church team. She was very active helping with Vacation Bible School, church dinners, AWANA and an active member of the Les Ames class. She always enjoyed her time with her family and church family and cooking for family get togethers. She spent several hours a day working on the farm and helping as she could and she liked her garden and flower beds. Public graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Bean Cemetery, Cleone, IL north of Martinsville, IL with Rev. David Wilson officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to Martinsville Bible Church, 509 Ridgelawn Road, Martinsville, IL 62442.
