Norma Jean Grissom Butcher's Obituary
Norma Jean (Stinson) Grissom Butcher, age 93, of Casey, IL passed away at 6:58 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL. She was born August 16, 1931 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Thomas Aaron Stinson and Nettie Mae (Reinbolt) Stinson. On July 16, 1950 she married Donald Lee Grissom in Casey, IL; he passed away as a result of an automobile accident on October 25, 1959. On August 20, 1965 she married Herman Floyd Butcher in Flat River, MO; he passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 1966.
Survivors include her son, Mike Grissom (Susan) of Arlington, TN; daughter, Connie Roberts (Mike) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Heather Palmer (Rick), Holly LeBarreare (Devin) and Wade Roberts; and great grandchildren, Michael Palmer, Rachel Palmer, Emry Roberts, Wren Roberts, David LeBarreare, and Jack Lebarrare. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and siblings and their spouses, Oscar Stinson (Margaret), Donald Stinson, Helen Updegraff (Dallas), Thelma Orrell (Victor), Mary Murphy (Doe), and Irene Whitling (Alf).
Norma was a faithful member of the Casey First Christian Church, Casey, IL . She spent her early years working at Ernie 's G&G and later at the Casey Bowling Alley, Arndt 's 5 & 10, Lacey 's Grocery, Casey IGA and Casey Library.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Solorio officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday morning at the funeral home.
