Norma M Cutright's Obituary
Norma M. Smith Cutright, 80 years old of Casey, Illinois entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. She was born in Casey, Illinois, the daughter of John William Smith and Goldie English Smith. She graduated from Casey Township High School in 1947. She married Harold E. Cutright on December 18, 1950 in Virginia. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1988. Norma was a life long resident of Casey. She was elected City of Casey Treasurer on April 22, 1959, a post held for fourteen years until her retirement on May 5, 1973. She and her sister, Carolyn, started the Casey Answering and Secretarial Service in 1965 and were in business for over 30 years. Norma also owned and operated the Rex Restaurant in Casey where she served the best pie in town. She was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Areta Chapter # 79 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of The Women of the Moose. She was involved in the Casey City Band for many years serving as secretary/treasurer and playing clarinet. She loved to bowl and bowled in league play for several years. She enjoyed going to school activities watching plays, concerts or sports, especially when great-nephews Kyle and Brandon Simpson were involved. She was one of the members of the committee who started the Casey Township High School Alumni now known as Casey-Westfield Alumni Association. Norma is survived by her sister, Carolyn Smith Yocom and husband James H. Yocom; sisters-in-law, Nelda Cutright and Lois Cutright; nephews, James O. Sifal Jr. and wife Judy; Doug Slater and wife Lori; nieces, Cindy Simpson and husband Pat Simpson Jr.; Mitzi Slater Martin and husband Roger; Shelly Cutright Ellington and husband Roger; Stacey Cutright Mader and husband Dale; great nephews and nieces, Kyle and Brandon Simpson; Levi and Christopher Slater and Jayln Goss; Lance and Logan Ellington; Amy Jo Stifal Medsker and husband Frank; Chloe and Meagan Mader; great great nephew, Race Medsker and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, Illinois with the Rev. Dr. Penelope Barber officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the funeral home.
