Nellie Rosalie "Rosie" Buchanan's Obituary
Nellie Rosalie "Rosie" Buchanan, 93, of Westfield, IL passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was born April 22, 1921 in Westfield, IL, the daughter of Ernest Clifton Gilbert and Lola E. Cartwright Gilbert. On August 9, 1958 she married Marion D. "Buck" Buchanan in Casey, IL. He passed away on July 5, 1997. Survivors include many cousins, longtime friends, Denzil Richardson, Mae Senteny and Joy Clapp; special caregivers, Kim Hamilton and Amy Davis and her many friends in the Westfield community. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Rosie was a 1940 graduate of Westfield High School. She worked over forty-five years for various John Deere Implement companies as a bookkeeper/parts person including Ruppert John Deere in Westfield, IL. Rosie retired in 1986 after working for nineteen years for Coffey Brothers John Deere Implement in Ashmore, IL. She had also previously worked for Ashmore Grain in Westfield. She was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church. Sewing, gardening, flowers, puzzles and her pets (especially cats) were her passion. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Markwell Chapel with Pastor Brandon Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Chapel, 119 S. Washington St., Westfield, IL.
