Morris Lee Shonk's Obituary
Morris Lee Shonk, 78, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois. He was born March 7, 1930 in Grandview, Illinois; the son of Everett Shonk and Vina Staggs Shonk. On November 1, 1974 he married Peggy R. Wilson Johnson in Casey, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Shonk of Casey, IL; son, Raymond Johnson of Casey, IL; son, Danny Shonk of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Crystal Sylvester of Charleston, IL; grandchildren, Tasha Thornburgh of Charleston, IL, Danny Shonk, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, and Tina Shonk of Kansas City, MO; two great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Shonk of Casey, IL and Bob Shonk of Kansas, IL; sister, Marilyn Sager of Charleston, IL; many nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, brothers, Hughes Shonk and Raymond Shonk and sister, Alice Perry preceded him in death. Morris was a retired MSgt from the US Air Force after twenty-six years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his military retirement, he then worked and retired from Trailmobile in Charleston, IL Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
